A very positive meeting with the Canada Games Council

As promised, I gathered together several comments pertaining to the meetings with the Canada Games Council that took place last week. Below are some of the comments, and as we can see, the meetings were quite fruitful!

MARIE-JOSÉE BERNARD - MANAGER-HUMAN RESOURCES

“For me, it was my first meeting with the Canada Games Council. We discussed some of my concerns, and overall it was very beneficial. I learned a lot, especially with regards to how we will compile our volunteer data. I understood better my work package and saw that there are already many tools available, which I'll be able to use. The meeting allowed me to better understand all the different files I'll have to manage, as well as the importance of having a global vision in my work. I am very satisfied and it was very beneficial. It was a great experience! The CGC informed me that we are right on schedule, perhaps even a bit ahead, and they aren't worried about our progress. Lots of great challenges lie ahead regarding human resources - we definitely won't be bored!"

MARIE-ÈVE CARON LAMARRE - MANAGER-ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES

"One thing is for certain – I am more motivated than ever to prepare a great document for the transfer of knowledge, as it is essential for a good start!"

FRANÇOIS SALVAIL - MANAGER-SPORT PROGRAMMING

“I have to say that we have already had monthly meetings with the Sport Committee of the Canada Games Council. This second meeting allowed us to validate several elements – the composition of the Sport Programming Directorate (volunteer vs. staff), the structure of our Sport Committees, and the planning process for recruiting our Sport Committee members. We developed a strong chemistry. We confirmed several aspects while making several adjustments and difficult choices. We will be able to keep each other informed on how things are evolving. We are a bit ahead of schedule for sports as we already have many of our operational elements. Many of our planning stages are already complete, but we were also provided with many useful documents from the Council that were created and adjusted by the different Host Societies."

STÉPHANIE HOARAU - MANAGER-PLANNING

"Each Manager met with their resource contact from the Canada Games Council. The objective was to, together, put faces to names as well as allow us to get to know the CGC and the CGC to get to know us. Also, it was an ideal time to start asking the CGC questions for which they have the answers, to find out how things worked in previous Games, where we can find pertinent information, and if there are any official directives that we need to follow. The meetings were very beneficial, as much for the Managers as for the CGC. It was a real exchange of knowledge! It allowed us to start our official collaboration and I am convinced that our Managers will not hesitate to call the CGC as they now know their resource contact. A link has been created, and the relationship is now more cordial. We have started down the road towards the family spirit that the CGC wants to create together. It was very beneficial!"
